On 15 January 2026, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, presided over the Fiscal Year 2026 Performance Agreement Signing Ceremony held at Huataphan Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, Chulabhorn Vejvadhana Building, Walailak University Medical Center. Senior executives from 46 academic and administrative units, including vice presidents, assistant to the president, deans, directors, and heads of divisions, participated in the ceremony to reaffirm their shared commitment to driving the University toward its strategic goals.<\/p>\n

Professor Dr. Sombat stated that the signing ceremony represented a collective commitment among the University\u2019s leadership to advance Walailak University in accordance with its strategic plan and vision of becoming a world-class institution. Particular emphasis has been placed on research excellence through the creation of high-impact knowledge and innovation, supported by a robust research ecosystem that will strengthen the University’s position as a leading research university.<\/p>\n

The President also highlighted the University\u2019s continued progress in global rankings. Walailak University is currently ranked among the top 1,201+ universities worldwide and sixth in Thailand. The University remains committed to improving its standing through continuous enhancement of academic quality and international recognition. He emphasized that academic excellence is built upon highly qualified faculty members, noting that approximately 59 percent of the University’s more than 800 academic staff currently hold academic titles. The University aims to increase this proportion to 70 percent by 2028\u20132029. He also expressed his pride in the recent royal appointments of eight professors, with another eight appointments currently awaiting royal endorsement.<\/p>\n

In addition, Professor Dr. Sombat underscored the University’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing the integration of SDGs into teaching, research, and community engagement in alignment with the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. He expressed confidence that Walailak University will continue to achieve greater international recognition and thanked all executives for their dedication and contributions to the University\u2019s success.<\/p>\n

As part of the ceremony, Dr. Premrudee Noonsang, Director of the Digital Innovation Center, joined the signing of the FY2026 Performance Agreement alongside senior executives from 46 University units.
