Center for Digital Innovation Showcases AI-Powered Innovation to Enhance Work Processes: A Case Study of \u201cAutomated Receipt Reading for Walailak University\u2019s Welfare Reimbursement System\u201d at WU Innovation SDG plus 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Center for Digital Innovation (CDI), Walailak University<\/strong>, is contributing to the University\u2019s efforts to advance innovation and enhance organizational work processes through the event \u201cPresentation of Innovations and Work Process Development by Centers, Institutes, Divisions or Equivalent Units, Schools, Colleges, and the Graduate College for Fiscal Year 2026 (WU Innovation SDG plus 2026).\u201d<\/strong> The event is being held from 25\u201327 August 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.<\/strong>, at the Phatthathammaphon Conference Room, 9th Floor, Building B, Walailak University Medical Center. On 25 August 2026<\/strong>, the opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University<\/strong>, and attended by University executives and personnel from various units. The event provides a platform for participants to exchange knowledge, showcase innovations, and share good practices in work process improvement, with the aim of streamlining procedures, reducing processing time, optimizing resources and budgets, and enhancing the University\u2019s overall operational efficiency.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, the Center for Digital Innovation presented its innovation entitled \u201cApplying AI to Enhance Work Processes: A Case Study of Automated Receipt Reading in Walailak University\u2019s Welfare Reimbursement System.\u201d<\/strong> Developed by the Center during Fiscal Year 2026, this digital innovation has been available as an additional feature within the Welfare and Benefits Module of the WU HRMS<\/strong> since 16 April 2026<\/strong>. The system is designed to make it more convenient for University employees to enter information from medical expense receipts and other welfare-related documents. By applying Artificial Intelligence (AI)<\/strong> to assist in reading and recording information from documents, the innovation reduces the need for manual data entry, simplifies procedures, shortens processing time, and provides personnel with faster and more convenient access to welfare services. This initiative demonstrates the practical application of technology to real-world work processes, addressing operational limitations while improving the quality and efficiency of internal University services.<\/p>\n

The presentation highlights the important role of the Center for Digital Innovation<\/strong> in developing and applying digital technologies to support Walailak University\u2019s missions and management. The Center is committed to developing systems and innovations that can be practically implemented, respond effectively to users\u2019 needs, and deliver tangible organizational outcomes, including streamlined work processes, reduced processing time, greater convenience for personnel, and more efficient use of resources. Participation in WU Innovation SDG plus 2026<\/strong> also provides an important opportunity to disseminate and exchange knowledge on innovation and to further develop work process improvement initiatives in collaboration with other University units. Through these efforts, the Center aims to foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and organizational development, while supporting Walailak University in becoming an organization that leverages technology and innovation as key drivers for sustainable improvements in management and operational efficiency<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
